How Product Design Can Bring Awareness to Africa’s Tech Markets

Meck Khalfan, CEO and co-founder of Puku, a revolutionary charger which can be used with mobile phones and similar USB electronic devices, sat down to speak with AFKInsider about product development. Conceptualized after coming across a similar product during New York City’s Hurricane Sandy, the charger was named after a species of Antelope known to survive in versatile conditions. In part two of the interview, Khalfan elaborates on finding the right team as well as the details of Puku’s product design.

“Product design is challenging, because there are so many moving parts. Your manufacturers are not close to you, which means you have to travel,” he said. “You have to look for the right partners to do your logistics. We were able to get a very good design company here in New York City to help us with the design — and to kind of shape the idea.”
