California State Senator Ashburn, known for advocating “straight family values” and voting for every anti-gay bill, was pulled over and given a DUI in 2010. Most importantly, he was allegedly leaving a gay bar with a man in his car.

Bruce Barclay

The Republican county commissioner of Cumberland, Pennsylvania who was known for condemning homosexuality as a sin had police show up at his home with a search warrant, after he was accused of raping a young man. What the police found were hundreds of tapes of Barclay having sex with a male prostitute.

The North Carolina Senate candidate worked hard pushing the same-sex marriage ban in his state, only to have the public discover he had once worked as a drag queen. According to reports, Wiles was deeply involved in activities at a gay-friendly lounge in Winston-Salem, emceeing drag queen shows, directing them and performing in them.

George Rekers

Rekers founded one of the largest anti-gay lobbying groups in the U.S. and even wrote anti-gay propaganda helping parents make sure their kids didn’t lead gay lifestyles. After surgery, Rekers hired some help to lift his luggage when he traveled. The scandal was that he hired this “help” from a site called Rentboy.com — a social networking site that connects sex workers with potential clients.

David Dreier

Dreier, a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, has voted against just about all legislation for gay rights, from gay adoption rights to legal rights. Dreier has been accused by several people of sleeping with male members of his staff and paying a boyfriend to keep their relationship a secret. Dreier was denied the position as the majority leader in the House of Representatives in 2005 because right-wing Republicans believed his views were too moderate. Openly gay Democratic Congressman Barney Frank implied in an interview that Dreier was passed over for the position because of his sexual orientation.
