Almost $1B In Deals To Be Announced At U.S.-Africa Summit

From WallStreetJournal.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker confirmed today that deals worth almost $1 billion would be announced at the U.S.-Africa Business Forum in Washington, D.C. early next month.

Pritzker told WSJFrontiers, “There will be announced at the summit at least $900 million in deals. It will be a combination of all different types of structures. But this is new money— and there will be more to come.”

The U.S.-Africa Business Forum will bring together more than 200 U.S. and African business people along with heads of state and other government officials, according to Pritzker. The aim of the business forum, which takes place alongside President Barack Obama’s U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit, is to “encourage U.S. private sector investment in Africa and vice versa,” she added.

More than 40 African heads of state are expected to gather in Washington, D.C. for the presidential summit on Aug. 6 to discuss economic development, security and governance.
