Dave Thomas

You’ll know him as the successful founder of the fast food chain Wendy’s, but to his unwed mother, Thomas was a burden she passed off to adoptive parents. Thomas was adopted by a construction worker named Rex Thomas and his wife, Auleva Sinclair. Thomas’ adoptive mother died when Thomas was 5 years old, and his adoptive father went on to have three more wives who all served as mothers to him.

Bill Clinton

U.S. President Bill Clinton was born to William Jefferson Blythe, Jr. and Virginia Dell Cassidy. Clinton’s father died in a car accident three months before our eventual-president was even born. After her husband’s death, Clinton’s mother went to nursing school and Clinton was adopted by his grandparents. His mother eventually returned and took custody of her son again but it was Clinton’s years with his grandmother that instilled in him his leadership qualities.
