Kenyan Restaurant Entrepreneur Aims for Airline Success

Paul Kihiko, a recent hospitality management graduate who was unsuccessful at finding a job in his field, stepped up to create an unlikely restaurant start-up, CCTV Africa report. Offering five-star meals at fast food prices, the entrepreneur says his business gives the average Kenyan consumer their money’s worth. Starting with a failed food truck model, the ultimate goal of the company, called Gourmet Nomads, is to partner with airlines.

“We started the business about six months ago. We chose the name the Gourmet Nomads, because we’re delivering good food all around Nairobi. We consider ourselves nomads in this industry,” Kihiko said.

“The nomad part of it also comes in terms of the type of meals we produce. We jump from different countries sometimes. We do Chinese cuisine sometimes, so that’s why we consider ourselves nomads.”
