From Macauhub

More than 110 large, medium-sized and small hotel units are currently being built in Angola, adding 8,652 rooms to the current total, indicate figures from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

The Angolan weekly Expansão reports that most of the hotels under construction should open before the end of 2014.

Official figures indicate that there are now 176 hotels with 9,353 rooms, up 13.5 percent over the hotel supply at the end of 2012.

In 2008 the sector counted 61 hotels with 2,822 rooms nationwide. In 2012 Angola had 155 hotel units with 7,956 rooms, tripling installed capacity in just four years.

Besides the 176 operational hotels, Angola also has 14 aparthotels with 725 rooms and 87 tourist villages with 2,842 rooms, for an overall total of 13,033 rooms and 16,826 beds nationwide.

More than half, or 55 percent, of total hotel rooms are concentrated in Luanda. The hotels now being built should help reduce the current asymmetry by opening units in other provinces away from the capital.
