South Sudan– Africa´s Most Fragile State, Fund For Peace Report

This is not good news for the world’s newest country. According to this year´s index by  the US-based Fund for Peace, South Sudan is at the top of the list of fragile states in Africa.

It outraked Somalia, which came top for the past six years. Somalia is now in second place, followed by CAR, DR Congo, Sudan and Chad, reports the BBC.

According to the organization´s co-director of the Fragile States Index, JJ Messner,  South Sudan’s problems were chronic instability, fractured leadership and the growing ethnic nature of the violence in the country.
