Angola’s Luanda province, as of Tuesday, has the country’s first business incubator base don a government initiative to support potential entrepreneurs and to diversify the economy, according to Angolan news agency Angop.

The incubator, which is estimated to cost 200 million kwanzas, is located in the Viana municipality within the Luanda-Bengo Special economic Zone. It will encourage, provide technical, managerial and technological support to mainly young entrepreneurs whose companies have been set up for no more than two or three years.

Maria Ruth Chitas, director of the National Institute of Small and Medium-sized Companies (Inapem), which manages the incubator, said that the facility has five workshops and offices and is open to entrepreneurs that have an idea and want to launch it but have few resources to do so.

“These entrepreneurs will be based at the business incubator for a period of up t three years, they will be trained and offered consultancy services for business management for a sustained period, which will prevent the company dying off as soon as it is set up,” she said.
