10 Top Items From Taco Bell’s Secret Menu

10 Top Items From Taco Bell’s Secret Menu

5 of 11

If you thought Taco Bell advertised every possible combination, shape and order of a tortilla, shredded lettuce and ground beef, you’re wrong. Their secret menu is full of dishes with salsas not always advertised on the public menu, meat combinations you’d never thought of, and items you’ll crave. Taco Bell doesn’t necessarily intend to keep these items secret. Some just are not currently on the regular advertised menu. Others take ingredients from several different regular items, so a staff member may not know what you mean when you order “The Superman” burrito. But he or she will probably happily make it for you if you explain what it is. Here are 10 top items from Taco Bell’s secret menu.

The Hulk

Called “The Hulk” because of the green avocado, this burrito has two versions. One is just a bean and cheese burrito with guacamole and the other you’ll learn about on the next slide.

The Incredible Hulk

According to Kulfoto.com the Incredible Hulk burrito is a five-layer burrito, but instead of nacho cheese, you get guacamole. That’s a lot of guacamole!

The Chili Cheese Burrito

The Chili Cheese Burrito is advertised on TacoBell.com, but it isn’t available at all locations so to track this baby down, you may have to do some calling around! It’s a flour tortilla stuffed with melted cheese and beefy, beany chili.

Enchirito

The Enchirito is like Taco Bell’s enchilada and it’s essentially a bean, beef, cheese and onion burrito smothered in red sauce and cheese. It’s like a smaller, more flavorful smothered burrito — which is on the official menu. It’s one of my personal favorites. The Enchirito was once on the official menu, but even after it’s been removed you can still order it. An entire Wikipedia.org page is dedicated to this item’s history!

Cheesy Gordita Crunch

Several years ago, the Cheesy Gordita Crunch was featured in national commercials for Taco Bell. The item is on Tacobell.com, and it doesn’t state there are any location restrictions. But, some sources like Hackthemenu.com say it isn’t available at all locations. Today, it is still on the official menu at some places, but it is on the secret menu at just about anywhere. I’ve ordered the item at Taco Bells in various states, including New York, California and Arizona, and never had a problem getting it.

“Spicy Green” Style

Before the Salsa Verde packets were added to the mecca of sauces at Taco Bell, you could order a green sauce from behind the register known as the Taco Bell Green Sauce. TacoBellmenuprices.net tells us that if you order anything “Spicy Green” you’ll get the “old” green sauce. Some sources, like Secretmenusource.com maintain the Salsa Verde packets contain the same sauce as the “old” sauce, but that’s up for debate.

Double-Grilled Quesadilla

If you like a little charcoal on your food and you like the burned edges of your food, you’ll love this: a quesadilla grilled twice on the skillet. It’s said to be extra crispy and flaky, according to Secretmenu.org.

“Lava Style”

The “volcano” menu has come and gone from Taco Bell over the years at varying locations. Any item off the menu had a delicious, creamy, spicy, cheesy sauce called “lava sauce.” If you were a fan of the menu, the good news is the sauce is still around at some locations. Just ask for your item “lava style” and you’ll get the sauce, according to Hackthemenu.com. Personally, I think the sauce tastes like the one added to the Cheesy Gordita Crunch, but you can find out for yourself.

The Superman Burrito

You should be able to order the Superman burrito at any location because it contains ingredients found in several regular items. Here’s what it is: a cheesy double-beef burrito with extra potatoes, sour cream, guacamole and crispy tortilla strips. It was the featured item tried from the secret menu on Latinpost.com.

Cheesarito

This simple snack is just a flour tortilla filled with scallions, melted cheese and the Taco Bell red sauce. You could grab packets of the sauce and make it at home but everything made at an actual Taco Bell just takes on a particular delicousness. For testimony from an enthusiastic fan of the snack, check out this YouTube video.
