From Post Zambia

China’S Vice-President Li Yuanchao says his country’s friendship with Zambia lies in the young.

And home affairs minister Dr Ngosa Simbyakula said at 50, Zambia still has a lot to learn from China.

Gracing the groundbreaking ceremony of the US$10 million worth Confucius Institute Office Complex project at the University of Zambia on Friday evening, Vice-President Li said Zambia and China should forever remain friends like they had been over the last 50 years.

“Our friendly cooperation with Zambia lies in people, especially the young. We can remain forever, good friends and partners like we have done in the last 50 years,” Vice-President Li said.

“I hope that the Confucius Institute, whose groundbreaking ceremony we are undertaking today Friday will enable Zambian students and children to learn more about the ways and language of China. The institute is fully aided by the Chinese government.”

Vice-President Li noted that the institute should become a monument or a milestone in cementing Zambia’s cultural exchanges with China.

The Chinese Vice-President urged the Chinese firm (Jiangsu Naritong No.3 Construction Group Company) and its workers undertaking the project to be completed in December next year, to do a good job.
