Helmet Camera Records South African Cyclist Being Robbed

Malcolm Fox was mountain biking on a trail near Sir Lowry’s Pass in South Africa with a camera mounted prominently on his helmet when an armed gunman ran towards him and ordered him off his bike, TOMONews reports.

The robber and his accomplices somehow failed to notice they were being recorded as they stole Fox’s bike, sunglasses, car keys and cell phone.

At one point, the gunman appeared to be peering straight into the camera, but made no effort to remove the helmet.

Fox uploaded the video on Youtube. The first-person footage of the armed robbery led to the arrest of three suspects, all age 22, according to report.

The suspects will remain in police custody until a court hearing later this month, police Lt. Col. Andre Traut told the Associated Press, ABCNews reports.

The robbery occurred Saturday near the town of Somerset West, near Cape Town and South Africa’s wine region.

Police said the mountain bike and cell telephone were recovered.
