From Sunday Express

One of Africa’s biggest commercial banks, Access is valued at more than £700 million. A source said: “The bank hired a new chief executive last year and he is very qualified to lead Access through an IPO [initial public offering] process in the UK.”

In 2013 the bank appointed Herbert Wigwe, a former PWC accountant and management consultant, as its chief executive officer.

It also saw profits soar 30 per cent to £2.3 million last year and doubled its assets under management to £28 million.

Access, which is also listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, operates 348 branches across Nigeria and Sub Saharan Africa.

The bank’s UK operations, headed by former RBS executive Jamie Simmonds, focus on asset and wealth management and trade finance.
