On June 20, 2010, at their base camp in Knysna, South Africa, football players in the French team refused to train for the World Cup before the cameras of the world.

They refused to get off the bus “Knysna,” in an act that has since become a symbol of inappropriate behavior, NewsHour reports.

The image of France players sitting on the bus when they should have been preparing for their final group-stage match became one of the most iconic of the tournament.

The team pouting session was a protest against the exclusion of team striker Nicolas Anelka, who had insulted Coach Raymond Domenech a few days earlier at halftime. Adidas was the supplier of the Blues until 2010 World Cup. The French team is under contract with Nike until 2018.

Now, as the French team makes final preparations before heading to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup, Adidas decided to invite a bunch of people to watch a replica of the bus get destroyed as a symbol of the team’s renewed dedication. The event was billed “the endpoint of one of the darkest episodes in football history.”
