Rumit Mehta, CEO and founder of global travel agency Immersion Journeys, joins AFKInsider to discuss the impact that his company is making in Africa and African tourism.

Branching off from a background in architecture and first working part-time at a travel firm, Mehta would eventually founded Immersion Journeys, which supports individuals, groups, schools and businesses. In part one of the interview, Mehta speaks about starting a travel business in Africa and the advantages of working out of New York and Tanzania.

“The advantage that we have is we’re sort of the glue that holds everybody together. The online business is definitely there. Those who are savvy may find that it’s easy to book hotels and transport,” he said. “What they forget a lot of times — especially with a continent as challenging as Africa — is what happens in-between.”
