Tourism in Kenya, one of its leading had currency earner, is going through a some tough times after several western nations issued harsh travel advisories against their citizens visiting the east African nation due to a series of terrorism related attacks, CNBC Africa reported.

A sustained spate of terrorism attacks on Kenya particularly in Nairobi, the tourism bedrock of Mombasa and areas bordering Somalia have seen the western nations move to enforce the travel advisories. Last week the United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany and Canada — some of Kenya’s main source markets for tourists — announced fresh travel bans that are likely to dent a serious blow to the local economy.

The East African reported that Kenya’s tourism sector had already lost over $59 million following the cancellations announced last week. These affected bookings that had been made between now and October 2014.
