African Development Bank Okays Strategy Paper For Cape Verde

From Asemana

The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (ADB) has approved the Country Strategy Paper for Cape Verde for the 2014-2018 period. The ADB, one of Cape Verde’s most important partners, has thus affirmed its support for the government’s efforts at laying the Foundation for more inclusive growth focused on the green economy.

The Ministry of Finances and Planning explains that the 2014-2018 Country Strategy Paper is founded on two pillars: the enhancement and diversification of infrastructures for sustainable development and the strengthening of economic governance in the public and private sectors.

These two pillars, says the government, are aligned with the priorities outlined in Cape Verde’s third Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper, the ABD’s Ten-Year Strategy, the Regional Integration Strategy Paper for West Africa and the ADB’s Development Policies for the Private Sector.

In addition to multi-sector budget support, the African Development Bank is expected to finance an indicative program with projects for the transportation, fishing and energy sectors, including the ports of Maio and São Nicolau in the package alongside the Mindelo fishing dock and the Maio energy generation capacity reinforcement program.
