Four Gymnasts From Cabo Verde Head To African Championship

Cape Verde’s national rhythmic gymnastics team has arrived in South Africa where, between now and April 1, it will compete in the 12th edition of the African Gymnastics Championship. Cape Verde is being represented by four gymnasts – two seniors, Elyane Boal and Leila Furtado, and two juniors, Márcia Lopes and VadyusKa Rodrigues. The athletes’ coach is Silvéria Nédio.

After missing the last two editions of the competition, Cape Verde has returned to African gymnastics. And, between now and April 1, the country’s gymnasts will compete with the best of the rest of the continent on a stage that has already garnered Cape Verde various medals, including a gold.

Indeed, this is what happened in 2006, when Wânia Monteiro won the gold medal in Cape Town, South Africa.
