South Africa’s ruling African National Congress is unlikely to suffer sanctions or blowback over the Nkandla scandal come May 7 election day, analysts said in a Mail&Guardian report.

Now that the truth about Nkandla is out, and despite President Jacob Zuma’s estimated R246-million spending spree on his KwaZulu-Natal home, opposition parties could inadvertently build sympathy for Zuma if they’re not careful about how they treat the release of the Nkandla report in the run-up to the elections, the Mail&Guardian report said.
