Nigeria and Namibia have announced a joint oil refinery to maximize cooperation in energy sector.

The announcement was made during the two-day official visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to Namibia with President Hifikepunye Pohamba.

A joint press release stated that the refinery would be wholly private financed.

“The leaders urged their respective private sector stakeholders to take the full advantage of the abundant business opportunities, to optimize trade and commerce between the two countries,” reports Leadership.

Nigeria also agreed to train Namibian diplomats at the Nigerian Foreign Service Academ and to provide volunteer health professionals to Namibia under the Technical Aid Corps Scheme.
