Day 11 Of Oscar Pistorius Trial All About Guns

Oscar Pistorius, the paralympic athlete accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, paid $4,470 for six firearms including a pump-action shotgun and a semi-automatic rifle but the order was cancelled after she died, the court heard Monday, according to a report and video in TheTelegraph.

Months before he killed his girlfriend, Pistorius told a South African court he drew his gun and went into “combat mode” after hearing the noise of a possible intruder at home. It turned out to be a laundry machine.

He had tried to apply for a licence to buy six guns — two more than allowed under South African law.

As part of his firearms proficiency test he was asked when it was legal to shoot at an intruder. He correctly said he was only entitled to shoot at them if they advanced on him with a gun, TheTelegraph reports.
