Army Gets Equipment To Destroy Materials Used For Illegal Oil Business

Nigeria’s Army now has modern equipment for the destruction of burnt trucks and materials used by those involved in illegal oil deals, reports Leadership News.

The acquisition of the equipment “is to ensure that we continue to thwart their nefarious activities, by completely reducing to ruins all seized equipment used for pipeline vandalism and illegal oil refining,’’ said the brigade’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Capt. Abubakar Abdullahi, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said the Army has continued to “arrest perpetrators of the illicit business, while destroying implements used to carry out the crime.’’

Abdullahi also called for increased efforts to monitor the activities of the “oil vandals,” adding “ oil thieves, pipeline vandals pose serious threat to national economy.

“ We therefore appeal to the general public to support our efforts by providing timely and accurate information to our troops to help check the activities of these saboteurs.’’ (NAN)
