Disorganized use of land and an increasing population is placing pressure on the stability of Kenya’s food security, according to principle secretary of mining, Richard Ekai. An NTV Kenya report noted that a recent Nairobi regional mapping workshop highlighted environmental issues and land misuse as major concerns that are affecting multiple areas of the country.

“I’m quite sure that if we put substantial resources into conservation of the environment and better management of the land, we’ll be able to remedy some of the problems that we have right now.” Richard Ekai, principle secretary of mining told.”

The country is in the process of implementing development plans for the land and better analyzing improved mapping results. Degradation in the rift valley and northern Kenya is on the rise, NTV Kenya reported.
