Israel To Help Ghana Transform Its Agriculture Sector

Israel’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Yair Shamir, has ended a two-day official visit to Ghana with a commitment to lead in bringing Israelis experts to help transform the agricultural sector.

The Minister, Yair Shamir, also expressed commitment of his country to help propel growth and development of Ghana’s economy through strategic investments and technological transfer.

This was contained in a statement signed by Ms. Mina Okuru, Public Diplomacy Coordinator of the Embassy of Israel, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

As part of activities marking his visit, Shamir called on President John Dramani Mahama and also held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Kofi Humado.

The statement quoted Humado as having expressed Ghana’s interest in the development of the irrigation sector through Israeli experience and technology. He requested Israeli support in capacity building.
