From The Zambia Post

A certified construction auditor says the construction industry is headed for a crisis unless drastic measures are taken to weed out corruption and mismanagement from the sector.

In separate presentations to transport, works, supply and communications minister Christopher Yaluma and Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) director general Danies Chisenda, Bwalya Lumbwe of Incipio Construction Auditing and Project Management stated that there is a danger that limited resources would continue being squandered.

In his letter to Yaluma dated April 18, 2013 and obtained by The Post, Lumbwe stated that many a time incorrect procurement procedures and conditions were applied with the resultant disproportionate transfer of contract risks from contractor to the government.

“Drastic measures need to be taken to meet the expectation of Zambians with regard to infrastructure delivery, meet the government promises on performance and weed out mismanagement and corruption,” he stated.
