South Sudan Frees Seven Detainees Accused Of Coup Plot To Kenya

South Sudan released seven of the 11 key purported rebel leaders held after an alleged coup plot last month, Kenya’s presidency Uhuru Kenyatta said Wednesday as Nairobi accepted to host the group, NTV reported.

The seven men appeared in apparent good health at a press conference hosted by President Kenyatta at his statehouse in the capital Nairobi.

“I am pleased to announce that today, the president of South Sudan…released to my custody seven of the 11 detainees previously held in his country,” he told a news conference as the seven men stood behind him.

John Luk Jok, a former justice minister, spoke on behalf of those released. “We don’t feel bitter, we only feel sad that the crisis in our country is happening just after our independence,” he said. “We don’t see our president as our enemy,” he added
