SABMiller Investing $110 million In Nigerian Brewery

Cheers! Multinational brewing firm SABMiller has announced plans to expand production in Nigeria.

The group’s Nigerian subsidiary is Intafact Beverages. Intafact will expand its Onitsha brewery in South Eastern Nigeria. To do so it will use an initial investment made by SABMiller of more $110 million.This is the single largest investment in Anambra state for nearly 20 years.

The brewery will triple its current annual capacity  and capacity expansion work has begun. It is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2015.

“We have made significant investments over the past five years in Nigeria and this announcement demonstrates our ongoing commitment in the country,” said Simon Harvey, managing director of SABMiller Nigeria.

The expansion will create 400 jobs.

The brewery produces brands such as Hero Lager, Castle Milk Stout and non-alcoholic malt beverages Grand Malt and Beta Malt.
