Despite a staggering surge in covid-19 cases, a popular right-wing, MAGA pastor encouraged his in-person and television congregation not to wear masks or get vaccinated against covid-19 because they “got Jesus.”

In a video clip that was reposted to Twitter by Right Wing Watch, Pastor Joshua Feuerstein passionately advocates his anti-mask, anti-vaccine position.

“Let me speak now to the cameras around the world. To every pastor that’s watching this broadcast, to every Christian that is cowered in your home, I realize that for this last year that maybe you’ve been fed fear and fear and fear, but the Bible says that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and a sound mind,” Feuerstein preaches in the clip. “You have a sound mind; you don’t you don’t have to wear the mask, you got Jesus. You don’t need the vaccine, you got Jesus.”

The clip, which was posted at 9:53 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, is continually gaining traction. It had over 2,400 quote tweets and 431 retweets at the time of this article’s publication. Twitter users criticized Feuerstein for his stance. stating the MAGA pastor was preaching against common sense and even Biblical examples.

“Why do u need a gun when u have Jesus? Why do we need doctors when we have the greatest healer in Jesus? Heck why do we even need to go to work when Jesus can provide? These people do not believe in the Bible. The Bible is just the weapon they use to reach their objectives,” @almoud85 responded.

Are broader financial markets in a massive speculative bubble?

“So true… and he says “you’ve been pushed to fear…” If they read their Bibles they would know people in OT were told to isolate outside their village when they got sick,” @Sir_BenCarter added.

“Thats just it, I believe that God gave us all common sense. God gave a us a brain… logic… to know when or when not to do something,” user @DasBiscuit replied. “Willingly making the choice to not get the vaccine is a moment where you’re choosing to not use the gifts that God gave you.”
