Despite Reports, Nigeria Will Not Sell Refineries

According to Dr. Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity, Jonathan has ruled out the alleged proposed sale of the country’s refinery, reportsĀ  Nigerian Bulletin.

Abati said, “Government is not going to sell any refineries. There is no such plan and there is no presidential approval for such. Nobody, not even the minister of petroleum has the powers to sell any government property. ”

During an interview last year with Bloomberg TV Africa in London, the Minister of of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke said that the refineries would be sold.
