President John Mahama says he wants the development of Accra to be modeled around Dubai’s.

According to the President, Ghana and Accra, in particular would draw lessons from the way infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) city has been developed in a spectacular form.

President Mahama who went on holidays in the UAE made these comments when he met the UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai.

According to the Emirates News Agency, President Mahama expressed the hope that his country and capital Accra in particular would draw lessons from Dubai’s development model and benefit from its human expertise and energies.

He said that the Accra airport, seaports, bridge and tunnel network, financial market and tourism need similar development and modernizaltion on the model of Dubai and the UAE in general.

Sheikh Mohammed discussed with President Mahama ways of enhancing bilateral co-operation and exchange of expertise in diverse sectors as tourism, oil and infrastructure which Ghana has begun to upgrade and modernize in its capital Accra, especially after the discovery of oil and gas in the country.
