Japan Will Finance Water Desalinization Project In Cape Verde

The governments of Cape Verde and Japan signed a loan accord this Friday, December 20 to finance the potable water desalinization and distribution project for the island of Santiago.

With the project, the government of Cape Verde hopes to improve the water production and distribution capacity for the island of Santiago and guarantee the supply of potable water to homes on the island.

The Japanese government has been one of Cape Verde’s partners in development since Independence in 1975. Most of the support provided has been channeled into the development of agriculture-related activities, as well as programs in the realm of fishing, telecommunications, sports, water supply, health, professional training, transportation and infrastructures.
