Thailand’s Centara Hotels & Resorts Sees Potential in Mauritius

Building an expansive enterprise in luxury real estate, Thailand’s Centara Hotels & Resorts has established their second property on the popular vacation island of Mauritius. eTurbo News reported that in addition to the newly opened Centara Grand Azuri Resort & Spa Mauritius, the company will take on management duties of nearby luxury properties.

On the Azuri oceanfront — a 420-acre village — sits shopping outlets, luxury homes as well as sports services, the report said.

“Mauritius is a very exciting destination that has enormous potential, and we are proud to be announcing this next step in our international expansion,” Thirayuth Chirathivat, chief executive officer of Centara Hotels & Resorts said.

“Our first resort property on the island, Centara Poste Lafayette Resort & Spa Mauritius, opened in December 2012 and by adding our premier five-star brand we are adding very strongly to our presence in this market,” he said.

The Centara Grand Azuri Resort & Spa which consists of 100 rooms, leisure facilities, a spa, adventure center and more, is part of a grand scheme attached to more commercial development.

Chris Bailey, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Centara Hotels & Resorts, said in the eTurbo News report that the resort is the focal point of future construction.

“We have a very strong marketing position for our five-star brand, and we are very confident in our appeal to the upper sector of the market for couples, honeymooners and families alike,” he said.

According to eTurbo News, Centara Hotels & Resorts is Thailand’s largest hotel operator. In addition to other regions in Asia, Centara Hotels & Resorts has a presence in Ethiopia. Their price-friendly brand COSI hotels caters to internet-savvy travelers who are open to experiences below high-end and luxury.
