Africa has turned into a hub and new frontier for technology, and giving young creative the opportunity to profit from it.

“We’re going to lead the way. We’re not playing catch up here. It is our turn. The Indian tiger and the Chinese dragon have had their days, it’s genuinely now African lions’ times,” Mara Group founder and managing director Ashish Thakkar told CNBC Africa.

Thakkar is one of Africa’s youngest billionaires who had started his first company at 15 years old. His company now employs over 7,000 people worldwide.

The Mara Group aims to make wealth through capacity building, mentoring and peer networking.

It also aims to inspire young and women entrepreneurs through the Mara mentor website, which will soon be available as an android phone application.

“The whole idea on that is young and women entrepreneurs get advice, guidance and support. They can follow mentors, they can get Q and A with mentors, training programs.  More importantly they’ll be also the regional and sectorial debate rooms which allow them to share ideas and communicate,” Thakkar explained.
