From Times of Zambia

Ecobank Zambia will next year open eight branches in selected districts of the country as part of its expansion programme. The move is also expected to increase access to banking services among the unbankable population.

Ecobank managing director Jolone Okorodudu said the bank would be opening two branches in each and every quarter which would see close to eight branches being opened during 2014.

“We plan to extend financial products and services to the rural parts of the districts in the country, because we have seen a lot of potential in these areas,” Ms Okorodudu said in an interview in Lusaka.

Among the districts earmarked are Solwezi, Chipata and Kitwe. The new branches  would offer various banking products and services. On the projected money to be spent on the expansion programme, Ms Okorodudu said the company had not yet come up with estimates on how much it would cost.
