Never one to mince words, hip hop mogul Ice Cube took to Twitter Monday to tell his 5.7 million followers how he really feels.
After a brief absence from social media, Cube posted a 5-minute video with the caption “Where the hell has Ice Cube been?” In the video, Cube explained his absence from the internet, saying he “pushed back” from being on social media because sometimes it is a very toxic environment.
“I just felt it was a lot of noise, a lot of poison, a lot of people with they own … personal agendas or party agendas and they really wanted to attack me for what I was doing because it was outside of the line of what they was doing or what they believed needed to be done,” Cube said. “When you recognize people really don’t want to get to the truth, they just want to perpetuate their own narrative against you, it was time for me to push back.”
Cube also noted that he was doing a lot of away from the public eye with major corporations and is also working on revising his “Contract with Black America” to “make sure we’re specifically hitting all the areas that we may have missed.”
The video comes after Cube was as the center of controversy after he spoke to the Donald Trump campaign about their “Platinum Plan” – which they said was designed to help Black Americans – a few weeks before the presidential election.
Many people criticized Cube for the move, accusing him of supporting Donald Trump and allowing himself to “get played” by Trump’s camp so they could use him as leverage to secure Black votes without delivering on any promises.
The Big3 owner said both the Trump and Biden campaigns had reached out to him and Trump’s campaign asked for his help crafting the Platinum Plan. He added that Biden’s camp said they would wait until after the election to meet with him.
A large swath of people rejected his explanations, and in his video the 51-year-old artist said people don’t actually really care about the truth.
“A lot of people don’t really care about getting to the truth and the real business, they just want to figure out where they don’t agree with you and hit you with it; so I understand that game. I’m a big boy, I’m more than a rapper,” Cube said.

“I just believe that when you really look at the problems we’re going through its bipartisan and you’re really trippin’ if you don’t look at both sides of the aisle and push both sides of the aisle to fix the problem,” Cube said. “What’s wrong with that? I think we got to try that because our problems are not being solved.”
Towards the end of his video, Ice Cube said he believed light was going to be shed on those who are really doing community work for the right reasons.
“I feel like it’s a cleansing going on in our community because the real and the fake is separating; and all the people who dissed what I was doing, you know, I’m gon’ just watch you and see what you get out the whole deal,” Ice Cube said.
“You talking about I was worried about getting something like taxes or some sh*t, yeah right. Anybody that would go through all this for some f**king taxes is an idiot,” Cube said. “But at the end of the day we’ll watch you and see what you get and then we’ll watch the people and see what they get.”
