Black Friday and Cyber Monday has become a hit in Nigeria for online retailer Konga. Konga, which started offering special deals on the 29th of November, says its website has recorded the highest number of on line visitors, reports Business News.

In a statement made available to Telegraph, the company said: “response from Nigerians has been amazing so far, we have broken every record from orders to traffic in online retail history in Nigeria ever.”

Some shoppers had troubling getting onto the site rush by customer to grab a deal. According to Konga this was due to overcrowding by online shoppers.

“If you have been following our sales this morning you will notice that the page crashed due to overwhelming engagement from Nigerian shoppers.

“To quickly remedy the issue we have increased our website capacity to more than double of the current capacity, we have also created an alternative way for people to shop by putting up ‘SALE’ tag on products that will be on sale.

“Customers should simply look out for products with the ‘SALE’ tag on product images and enjoy amazing discounts,” a representative who chose to speak on the condition of anonymity added.
