Grammy Award-winning singer Erykah Badu recently got a very confusing covid-19 diagnosis. She tested both positive and negative for the virus.
She tweeted about the results, telling fans that she was asymptomatic but tested positive in her left nostril while her right nostril tested negative, Page Six reported.
“No symptoms. Was tested for covid. Same machine. Left nostril positive. Right nostril negative,” she tweeted. “Maybe they need to call Swiss Beats so they can do a versus between them. Funny thing is, Dr. ONLY reported the positive result. What the fack is goin on here. Rapid Test. $$$$ smh.”
Badu also tweeted, “This is my third rapid test in 24 hours. SMH. It’s routine to take c19 test before a livestream broadcast for all band and crew. Earlier I took 2 and one was positive the other neg in separate nostrils ?? We need to investigate these tests further. I want my $ back.”
Badu also attached a screenshot of her test result.
Some who doubted the covid-19 pandemic replied.
“They’ve been faking the whole shit Momma, since the start. Covid is in the Vaccine they’ve been wanting us to take, not truly in what they tell us, so all in all the Virus is fake. They make up these cases, for every health issue u have, they’ll blame it into Covid. Manipulation” one fan tweeted.
Another tweeted about the unreliability of rapid covid-19 tests, saying “rapid tests are notoriously unreliable. PCR tests more accurate, they just take longer to get the result.”
Some Twitter users called out others who say covid-19 is a hoax. “Test unreliable yes ….. but people let’s stop calling this a hoax…… people have lost family and friends behind this! It’s disrespectful to call it a hoax….. the dead mattered to someone maybe not you but someone. Hope all is well with you Queen Badu.”
Badu made her debut in 1997 with the groundbreaking and critically acclaimed album “Baduizm,” which topped the charts with such hit singles as “On & On.” Other hits during her career have included “Tyrone,” “You Got Me,” “Bag Lady,” and “Afro Blue.”
In August 2020, Badu contributed to the live-streamed recording of Bilal’s EP “Voyage-19,” created remotely during covid-19 pandemic lockdowns. Proceeds from its sales went to participating musicians in financial hardship from the pandemic.
Badu isn’t the only well-known personality reporting odd covid-19 test results. Billionaire Elon Musk, CEO and product architect of Tesla, Inc., tweeted that he also encountered some “funny business” regarding his covid-19 test results.
“Something extremely bogus is going on,” Musk wrote. “Was tested for covid four times today. Two tests came back negative, two came back positive. Same machine, same test, same nurse. Rapid antigen test from BD.”

The SpaceX CEO, who has expressed doubt about the true nature of the pandemic in the past, said he was tested for the virus four times in one day and the results were split. Musk’s tweet came before SpaceX delayed the launch of its second astronaut flight due to high wind and weather conditions, USA Today reported.
Experts say covid-19 testing can be confusing and sometimes inaccurate. “Antigen tests work by detecting a small protein on the surface of the coronavirus, whereas the more accurate PCR tests look for the virus itself. Antigen tests can be conducted quickly as they don’t require a lab, and are often administered in hotspots like college campuses or elderly care facilities,” The Verge reported.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, “Positive results from antigen tests are highly accurate, but there is a higher chance of false negatives.”
