Two Miami cops have taken the iconic “Bad Boys” franchise too seriously – except instead of busting criminals, they’ve become them, police say.

Miami-Dade police officers Roderick Flowers, 30, and Keith Edwards were arrested by federal authorities on Oct. 29 after using their badges to protect a cocaine shipment, according to a report from the Miami Herald.

The duo were allegedly on the payroll of Manuel Carlos Hernandez, who is accused of massive money laundering. Hernandez was being investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for six months.

Hernandez hired the two police officers to help transport a shipment of “white girls” – which is a code name for cocaine – the Miami Herald reported. The drugs turned out to be fake and the operation, a set-up by the DEA to bust Hernandez and some of his accomplices.

It was successful with the help of an unidentified source who posed as a member of the Mexican cartel that paid Flowers $5,000 upfront for him and Edwards to do the job.

Jamarlin makes the case for why this is a multi-factor rebellion vs. just protests about George Floyd. He discusses the Democratic Party’s sneaky relationship with the police in cities and states under Dem control, and why Joe Biden is a cop and the Steve Jobs of mass incarceration.

Known to be flashy on Instagram, the duo dressed up as “Bad Boys” characters Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, played by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, respectively. Flowers even identifies himself as “Detective Mike Lowrey” on Instagram.

Flowers comes from a law enforcement family. His father and sister are also cops. After confirming with the DEA’s source that he was a cop, he allegedly said, “Yeah, I don’t look like one, right?”

Edwards is a former soldier and father of three, the report said.

The duo has been charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess cocaine.

In his last post on Instagram before his arrest, Flowers shared a photo with the caption, “Congratulations to my little sister joining the family business. Officer Flowers X3.”

After news of his and Edwards’s arrests, one social media user asked, “Hows that family business goin” along with laughing emojis.
