Two young Black men in Scottsdale, Arizona, were filming in an area near their apartment when they were confronted by an Asian man who questioned what they were doing. During the confrontation, Paul Ng launched into a racist rant against the two men, telling them, “This is a no n—- zone.”

Ng readily admitted that he is a racist. The incident was caught on video and went viral, leading to Ng not only getting fired from his job at a real estate agency but also getting himself arrested.

Scottsdale Police arrested Ng on disorderly conduct charges.

The incident sparked outrage on Twitter.

Filmmaker and activist Tariq Nasheed, who founded the Black think tank the Foundational Black American convention, tweeted, “This is an anti-Black racist Asian man named Paul Ng of Scottsdale AZ..He was fired from his job after he tried to provoke an altercation with a Black man. This is the ‘minority coalition’ Black people fought so hard for”.

Another Twitter user posted, “IF only they would put the ‘NO NI**er ZONE’ sign up on the establishment. Let us know not to spend our money in places like this up front. they wonder why their business are suffering right now in Chinatown across the nation. ‘We ain’t got it for you’”.

Dre Abram, 25, recorded the video. He and his roommate were out recording a podcast for his YouTube page on Main Street in Old Town Scottsdale when they were attacked. Abram said Ng approached them on the sidewalk outside his condo.

“It’s just so hard to kind of go back and replay,” Abram said

In the video, you can hear Ng say, “I’m a racist” and “this is a no n—- zone.”

“It’s a numbing feeling,” Abram said. “Someone is seriously doing this to me right now? And at that point, it’s, ‘Be smart, be smart.'”

Abram, who goes by the name LILAJDRE on YouTube and Instagram, posted the video on his social media channels. As of this writing, his post on Instagram has more than 431,000 views.

“This isn’t OK,” Abram says. “This isn’t allowed anymore.”

When Phoenix NBC affiliate 12 News spoke with Ng off-camera on Monday, he admitted he shouldn’t have said what he said.

When Abram first started recording, Ng tells him, “We’ve had trouble around here.”

Abram responds by saying, “Do you know a lot of white men are doing racist things in this world, sir?”

Ng told police he was concerned about riots and the safety of his family. He told police he “keeps an eye on the neighborhood” and that incident with Dre was “unusual.”

Ng lost his job at Russ Lyon Sotheby’s Real Estate Agency in Scottsdale.

The agency sent a statement that reads, in part:

“On Sunday we learned of an extremely hateful and racist video that was posted to social media showing one of our inactive independent contractors, Paul Ng, demonstrating abhorrent, unacceptable behavior. Upon learning of this video we took immediate action in severing his license, terminating his involvement with us effective immediately and condemning his disgusting behavior.”

Listen to GHOGH with Jamarlin Martin | Episode 73: Jamarlin Martin Jamarlin makes the case for why this is a multi-factor rebellion vs. just protests about George Floyd. He discusses the Democratic Party’s sneaky relationship with the police in cities and states under Dem control, and why Joe Biden is a cop and the Steve Jobs of mass incarceration.

The agency said it also reported Ng to the Arizona Department of Real Estate and recommended that his license be revoked.

“I want him prosecuted to the furthest extent,” Abram says. “I feel like this is a huge example.”
