Work Will Continue In Ghana: Organized Labor Suspends Scheduled Strike

The Leadership of Organized Labor has endorsed the earlier statement issued by Kofi Asamoah, Secretary General of the TUC on behalf of the group to call off their intended nationwide strike scheduled for November 18. 2013.

Dr. Yaw Baah, Acting Secretary General of the TUC speaking at a press conference in Accra stated that the leadership of Organized Labor met to deliberate on the recent developments on the utility tariff increases.

He said the meeting took note of government’s communiqué that announced the 25 percent reduction in the electricity tariff from 78.9 percent to 59.18 percent.

He noted that Organized Labor expected the Technical Working Group setup in the wake of the utility tariff increases to submit its final report without further delay.

Dr Yaw Baah also thanked all the working people of Ghana for their support during the struggle to advocate for reduction in utility tariffs.

“We would like to assure you that, as your elected leaders, we will protect your interests at all times,” he added.
