The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the African Union Commission met to discuss eliminating hunger in Africa Tuesday with African ministers of agriculture and rural development and representatives from Brazil, China and Vietnam.

Ethiopia’s Agriculture Minister, Wondirad Mandefro, urges collective action to eliminate hunger in Africa. African countries need urgent collective action to end hunger and ensure better livelihoods for their people, he said.

Opening a three-day consultative workshop on partnership to eradicate hunger in Africa  at the African Union (AU) headquarters, the minister said the continent should mobilize all resources and wisdom to tackle the challenge of hunger because it is “the most dehumanizing phenomenon.”
