In Case You Missed It: Roland Martin And New MAGA Convert Isiah Washington, Who Went After Each Other On Twitter

Washington
From his MAGA loving statements as of late, it’s hard to believe that Isaiah Washington voted for Barack Obama twice and was once a Jill Stein supporter. From his MAGA loving statements as of late, it’s hard to believe that Isaiah Washington voted for Barack Obama twice and was once a Jill Stein supporter. Most recently Washington was back on his Trump praise train via Twitter. Besides getting into an online back and forth with TV commentator Roland Martin as well as journalist Soledad O’Brien, Washington also compared Black people who don’t support Trump to crack addicts.

The former “Grey’s Anatomy” actor tweeted, as reported by NewsOne: “I dated a woman that was addicted to crack. I became addicted to trying to save her. She stole from me and disappeared for days, worrying me to death,” he posted. “I really loved her and when I tried to reason with her to get her help, she refused, berated & attacked me much like Black Dems.”

The 56-year-old actor, who was fired from “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2007 because of a homophobic slur targeted at a fellow cast member, added, “But I will only walk away when it matters and the reason why I’ve chosen to walk away from the Democratic party as I know it and walk away from the Republican party as I don’t know it, is that something doesn’t feel right…If I look at the political lineage of the Democratic party over the last 50 years of my lifetime… and very little has changed in my community…then I have some questions. I’ve got more than questions.”

According to Washington, he became a Trump supporter after he said Obama didn’t pay him enough attention.

“I voted for 44 twice,” Washington tweeted in April. “I even checked my emails in his Senate Office while lobbying for Salone to be given another chance to rebrand. Not once in 8 years was I given any support regarding Africa or the Black Agenda, but 45 invites me to the WH to celebrate the #FirstStepAct.”

But Washington did want to make it clear, he is not committed to either party. He posted:  “Those who know, know that I’m not a Democrat or a Republican. I will work w/h anyone as long as things get done. The #FirstStepAct was passed on December 21, 2018 w/h the hard work of @JessyMichele  @LouislReed @VanJones68 and @cut_50 I’m proud to stand with them all today.”

In another Twitter rant, Washington he himself was doing better work  than Harriet Tubman, who freed more than 70 slaves in her time.

“The whole ordeal started when Washington posted a picture of himself with a bunch of conservative, Trump-loving, MAGA hat-wearing Black people during the Black Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C.,” NewsOne reported.

Journalist Soledad O’Brien noticed the post and wrote: “I don’t know you personally, but we do Follow each other here on Twitter. Perhaps you should do a little more research on me before you go down this path. Let’s keep it simple. Let’s hop on call before you are forced to block me and this becomes nasty.”

Things heated up, with O’Brien responded to Washington: “Or… I can just ignore you. Bless your heart, though. (And don’t threaten people. It’s not becoming.)”

O’Brien, in turn, got attacked online by a bunch of MAGAs followed by some snarky tweets to O’Brien from Washington.

Washingon also had an online spat with journalist Roland Martin. The two went back and forth with posts attacking each other, as Daily Caller reported.

Here are just a few of their posts:

Roland Martin: “Wait. So you @IWashington tweeted that me and @soledadobrien could either debate you or F ourselves; I took you up on the offer; but NOW you want a private face-to-face meeting so I can apologize because I hurt your feelings with [Smiley Face Emojis]? Really, bruh?”

Roland Martin: “Look @IWashington I used to have your number. You were one of the folks who I would hit up when I rolled to LA. But when you went off on me in 2009 for not attending your Sierra Leone gala BECAUSE I was filling in for Campbell Brown on @CNN. That was enough for me.”

Isaiah Washington: “I’m not so sure that this was what caused our break in communication and I’m certainly not going to reveal the real reason we stop talking Roland on Twitter. Now apologize like a gentleman or Follow me and I will give you my number to apologize.”

Isaiah Washington: “This is what you can do. You can Follow me. I’ll follow you back and I can give you my number. Call me and apologize or we can meet face to face alone and have a private discussion. You agree to meet me face to face at a private location? Just you and me like old times?”

Roland Martin: “Bottom line @IWashington I supported you as a fellow Houstonian, until your antics turned me off completely. You desire an apology for [Smiley Face Emojis] et your TL is filled with calling me a clown, a mitch, you tweeted a salty bitch photo, and demeaning me wearing ascots.”

Roland Martin: “I blew all of that off as childishness @IWashington. If you are serious about a Black-on-Black discussion regarding @realDonaldTrump #MAGA #Blexit and today’s @GOP, I’m ready. ANYTIME. Face-to-face. Via Skype or FaceTime. LA or DC. I OWN #RolandMartinUnfiltered. Just holla.”
