Mathew Knowles is an acute businessman. He is most known for managing the iconic girl group Destiny’s Child, which his insanely famous daughter Beyoncé was a part of. He also helped launch the solo careers the Queen Bey, his other daughter Solange and Kelly Rowland. Now he’s announced he is venturing into the marijuana business.

Knowles has signed a deal to be the chief marketing officer at Bangi, Inc, a real estate company for weed farms and dispensaries, Page Six reported.

According to the report, Knowles will be putting together the company’s global marketing campaign.

Jamarlin talks to Kai Bond, managing partner at Comcast Ventures Catalyst Fund. They discuss the Fyre Festival being flagged during due diligence and Kai’s observation that most African-American entrepreneurs are under-negotiating. They also discuss a Washington Post article suggesting Facebook is psychopathic.

“I’m a marketing guy. I like to think outside of the box. I like to be on the beginning of a trend and not at the end of it,” Knowles said.

Though Knowles has admitted to using marijuana for “medicinal purposes,” he noted that Bangi doesn’t actually handle the drug itself. It buys and leases land to companies that do.

The news about Knowles came on the heels of cannabis company Caliva’s announcement that his famous billionaire son-in-law Jay-Z will be its chief brand strategist.

However, he said neither of them knew what the other was doing, adding that he wished his news had come out first.
