Chi Ali is getting back to telling stories, but this time he’s not lacing them over hip-hop beats . – and the story is his own. Ali recently released an autobiography “Another Kind of Freedom.” The book details his fascinating life, including being featured twice on “America’s Most Wanted” for killing his daughter’s uncle, Sean Raymond, in 2000.

Ali came to prominence as an MC in 1992 at age 16 when he released his only studio album, “The Fabulous Chi Ali.” As the youngest member of hip-hop collective Native Tongues, Ali was well on his way to super stardom. In 2001 after the fatal shooting, he became the subject of a nationwide manhunt for over a year.

Finally captured in 2001, Ali served 12 years in prison for manslaughter. Though he’s happy to be out and said he will never go back to prison, Ali wishes he’d made a different decision that fateful day, reported MTV.

“I took a life, and you can’t take that back, so that’s probably the worst thing one can do … I want to send my condolences to the family, and no matter what I say, I’m never glorifying that. I want everybody to get that straight,” Ali said.

They discuss the high stakes for Black America not scaling up in technology and the potential to weaponize tech against us, whether hip hop dumbs the people down and what a hip-hop summit would look like in 2019.

He called his autobiography his “redemption story” and said he believes others will be able to relate to his life’s experiences in a recent interview with VladTV.

“It’s my life story. I feel like … if you white, Black, rich poor, whatever walk of life you came from, it’s parts of this book that you will be able to identify with,” Ali said. “I done been into all type (sic) of s**t good and bad … and I just poured my heart into this … I wrote it when I was locked up … It’s just my little redemption story.”

Ali also has a documentary named after his album, “The Fabulous Chi Ali” on Netflix.
