Jay-Z Hires A Lawyer For The Family Suing The Cops Who Pulled A Gun On Their 4-Year-Old Daughter

The police will not pull guns on a young Black family and their four-year-old child without facing consequences on Jay-Z’s watch. The billionaire hip-hop mogul has hired high-powered attorney Alex Spiro to join the legal team of a Phoenix, Arizona family after a traumatizing police stop went viral, reported XXL.

Last month, Dravon Ames, his pregnant fiancée Iesha Harper and their four-year-old daughter were stopped at gunpoint by police yelling obscenities at them and threatening to kill them, reported AOL.

I’m gonna put a f***ing cap in your f***ing head,” the officer yelled at the young family in a video of the incident. “When I tell you to put you f***ing hands up you put your hands up,” the officer also yelled at Harper while pointing a gun at she and her daughter, who she was holding. Harper hysterically responded, “I can’t put my hand up, I have a **** baby!”

The stop came over a shoplifting incident after the couple’s daughter allegedly stole a doll from Family Dollar. The couple said it happened unbeknownst to them.

Despite the couple’s compliance, officers were enraged and totally out of line. The couple has filed a $10 million lawsuit against the city for child neglect over the way their family was treated.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego released a statement via Facebook condemning the officers’ actions, according to Mix 106 Radio.

“I, like many others, am sick over what I have seen in the video depicting Phoenix police interacting with a family and young children. It was completely inappropriate and clearly unprofessional,” Gallego wrote in a Facebook post. “There is no situation in which this behavior is ever close to acceptable. As a mother myself, seeing these children placed in such a terrifying situation is beyond upsetting.”

Ames said he and his family were just trying to make it out of the situation alive. “Our hands are up, we’re just trying not to get shot, trying to stay calm … He had a gun drawn,” Ames said.

The Phoenix police department said they are investigating and have assigned both officers involved to desk duty.
