Survivors of child abuse by Catholic Church clergy are accusing presidential hopeful Sen. Kamala Harris of turning a blind eye to their pain. Though Harris has touted her resume when it comes to fighting for victims of sexual abuse throughout her career, some victims say that wasn’t their experience, reported The Intercept.

While serving as District Attorney (DA) in San Francisco, the article says Harris inherited her predecessor, Terence Hallinan’s records about priests accused of sex crimes that had been shielded by the church. However, victims say Harris did nothing to prosecute the cases.

“It went from Terence Hallinan going hundred miles an hour, full speed ahead, after the Catholic Church to Kamala Harris doing absolutely nothing and taking it backwards hundred miles an hour,” said Joey Piscitelli, a sexual assault survivor, who was molested while attending the Catholic high school Salesian College Preparatory.

Jamarlin talks to tech attorney and diversity strategist Bärí Williams about her experience working at Facebook and whether Trump could be talking about Sen. Cory Booker when he claims he could blackmail a U.S. Senator. They also discuss some criticism of Sen. Kamala Harris that is “out of pocket.”

Harris also refused to release the clergy abuse files to the public as Hallinan had wanted to. Some believe Harris failed to pursue the cases against the Catholic Church because of fear it would hinder her political career.

“The Roman Catholic Church is very powerful and I think they didn’t want to step on any toes, especially in San Francisco,” Dominic De Lucca told The Intercept. He said he was raped by a priest when he was 12.

These unflattering revelations are just some among many that has voter support for Harris split among Blacks. Criticism of her record as a prosecutor as well as questions regarding where she stands on issues including Palestine, Apartheid and details of her plan for reparations, loom. One study found only nine percent of Black women said they would vote for her.
