Samsung much-anticipated foldable cell phone has hit a snag. The phone got bad reviews after several tech reviews reported that their phones became damaged after only about two days of use. And now the company is delaying the rollout the $2,000 phones.

The Galaxy Fold was to begin shipping to consumers on April 26. Samsung has not yet released a new date.

“While many reviewers shared with us the vast potential they see, some also showed us how the device needs further improvements that could ensure the best possible user experience,” Samsung said in a statement. “To fully evaluate this feedback and run further internal tests, we have decided to delay the release of the Galaxy Fold.”

“The hybrid Galaxy Fold has a 4.6-inch display when folded as a phone and 7.3-inch display when unfolded as a tablet. The new device starts at $1,980, depending on region and carrier, and will come in an LTE or 5G option,” ABC News reported.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold was to become the first phone with a foldable OLED display.

But the phone isn’t working as it should.

“There are at least two issues at play: the foldable display is covered with a protective layer, which looks identical to a cheap screen protector. Several review units failed after it was removed. However, some displays seem to have failed because its hinge exposed areas that allow debris to get inside of the display,” The Verge reported.

This phone fail is coming at a bad time for Samsung.

“Troubles for the Galaxy Fold come at a pivotal time for the mobile phone industry. Smartphones sales have slowed globally as phones become more expensive, and the market has become saturated. Foldable phones were expected to boost the market, and several companies unveiled their foldable versions at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February,” MSN reported.
