The Gambia: Fastest Place On Earth To Incorporate A New Business?

The Gambia has launched iCommerce Registry, an online facility that enables new business registration within seconds in Africa’s smallest mainland country, according to a press release at GeeksWorld.com.

Speedy development of business and enterprise in The Gambia is a priority for President Yahya Jammeh, the press release said. The goal is to attract global companies to set up there, create local jobs and help diversify the economy.

The press release describes the registry as a revolutionary business incorporation service and the fastest place on earth to set up a new business.

It also signals a bold step forward for The Gambia and promises to enable this African nation to leap-frog its global competitors by combining cutting-edge technology and attractive businesses environment, the press release said.

The Gambia partnered with Infini Africa Group, a technology specialist with offices in the U.K. and South Asia, to deliver the iCommerce Registry using cloud-based technology. It provides fast, secure and cost-effective delivery of corporate services including incorporation of limited companies, trusts, and foundations, the press release said. The registry is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The iCommerce Registry is the first phase of a project that will see a number of new facilities becoming available in The Gambia offshore center over the next year including The Enterprise Zone, a business hub located on the Atlantic Shore. The zone includes development of a technical institute offering tuition in software engineering and technical design services for businesses. It will also have a media development complex with modern facilities for pre- and- post production.

Due to the fertile land and a river running through The Gambia, its economy is dominated by farming, fishing, and tourism. About a third of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day, according to the U.N.’s Human Development Indices.
