Liberians are expected to receive a major boost in the supply of electricity to Monrovia and its environs following a recent signing of bilateral agreement between the Governments of Liberia and Japan.
The power plant project will enable homes and businesses to have easy access to more reliable and affordable power supply as the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) endeavors to restore electricity throughout the country following years of civil unrest.
According to a release, this project was made possible as a result of a grant provided by the Japanese Government to Liberia of more than 2 billion Japanese Yen for the construction of a 10 megawatt Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) Diesel Plant for the LEC.
