Ain’t No Stopping Him: Joe Budden Inks Podcast Partnership With Spotify In Addition To New Revolt Deal

Over the years, Joe Budden has gone from a hip-hop heavyweight to a media maven. The Harlem-born, New Jersey-bred rapper debuted as a Def Jam artist back in 2003 with an album featuring the single, “Pump It Up,” that hit No. 8 on the Billboard 200, selling 95,000 copies within its first week.

Budden, who went through label changes, released an array of other hip-hop projects, with his latest being “Rage & The Machine” in 2016. But aside from rapping, Budden, who has been known to speak his mind, emerged as a broadcaster and host of Complex’s “Everyday Struggle,” alongside Nadeska Alexis and DJ Akademiks in 2017. The partnership with Complex didn’t last long. Budden left the show in January 2018.

Budden didn’t take a break too long. Not only did he ink a deal with Revolt TV a few months back; he has just signed on with Spotify. Budden’s “The Joe Budden Podcast” landed a partnership deal with the streaming service. Budden’s popular podcast series will appear exclusively on Spotify beginning on Sept. 12. It will record two podcasts weekly to air every Wednesday and Saturday.

“Our partnership is extremely humbling for me and adds yet another chapter to a career full of plot twists. This highlights a new way of thinking and a corporate head nod to the shift taking place before our very eyes,” Budden said. “I’m even more thrilled to embark on this journey with some of my closest friends and people I love.”

“Each episode will eventually appear on YouTube 48 hours after its release on Spotify. The series–which launched back in 2015–has experienced an exponential rise to prominence as an influential voice in the hip-hop culture. The crew will also remain the same, with Joe joined by his loyal co-hosts Mal, Rory, and Parks each week,” Billboard reported.

Budden is also going to be bust with his ”State of the Culture” show with Revolt TV, which debuts on Sept. 10. “The new endeavor is expected to feature informative debates and unfiltered interviews between Joe and a range of celebrities,” Billboard reported.

“Finally, Joe Budden is officially part of the Revolt family,” Revolt Chairman Sean “Diddy” Combs said at the time of the signing. “Joe has an authentic approach and he’s never afraid to speak the truth. His many talents deserve a platform that pushes the culture forward and we are excited to produce next-level content with him.”

Revolt announced “State of the Culture” will look to “deliver raw, unfiltered, and informative debates and interviews where Budden digs deep with prominent celebrities, artists and personalities.”

These latest deals Budden has made with Spotify and Revolt seem like a positive turn from his experience with Complex Media. Shortly after starting his show there, he and management butted heads.

“We love and respect him; we believe he’s terrific but the reality is we couldn’t reach an agreement,” Complex said at the time of the fallout, Billboard reported.

Budden had a different take. He spoke of his grievances with the show in a series of tweets: “I created that show… I’ll create another if need be… & another & another….. it’s when u CANT create that you move WITHOUT integrity….”

Now, it seems like September will be all about Budden as he debuts his two new shows.
