Sadio Mane Named In PFA Premier League Team Of The Year

Senegalese winger Sadio Mane has been in stunning form for Liverpool this season, earning him a coveted place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

The Professional Footballers’ Association announced their best 11 of the season thus far on Thursday, and of the 11 players selected by position, Mane was placed within his favoured right wing role.

After missing out on the PFA Player of the Year shortlist last week, the Teranga Lions star will be pleased to have made it into the team of the year.

Four Chelsea and four Tottenham players were included in the side, with Mane being the only Liverpool player in the selection.

The speedy attacking player has been in impeccable form at Anfield this season after joining the club in an African record deal worth around $45.1 million.

The 25-year-old was away from his club while on national team duty at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in January, but despite his absence for a month, he has scored 13 goals and created five more for team-mates so far this season.

He has scored goals against Merseyside derby rivals Everton in both legs of the league, while he also scored against champions Leicester City in September and contributed a brace against title-hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur in February, proving that his goals have held high value against top opponents.

Joining Mane in the Premier League Team of the Year are the likes of Manchester United’s David de Gea in goal, David Luiz and Gary Cahill of Chelsea at the back, Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kanté, also from Chelsea in midfield, as well as top goalscorers Harry Kane of Tottenham, and Everton’s Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.
